One-page handwritten letter, dated October 1, 1960, signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Ty Cobb. In his letter, written on his personal letterhead, Cobb apologizes to a correspondent about the delay in responding. In full: “Dear Mr. Jones: - Your letter was buried in lots of mail which came to me while in and out of hospital a couple of times, I am sorry for the delay. Sincerely, Ty Cobb.” Both the text and signature have been scripted in Cobb’s customary green ink and grade “9.” The letter (7.25 x 10.25 inches) displays two horizontal mailing folds and is in Excellent to Mint condition.
