Graded NM+ 86 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher out of sixty-three examples evaluated by SGC to date. Stunning ultra high-grade example of the key card of Cap Anson from this very popular and colorful set of fifty, issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen. Considered by many to be the most beautiful of all nineteenth-century tobacco-card issues, the N162 Goodwin Champions set has cemented its place as one of the premier baseball-card sets ever produced from any era. This extraordinary NM+ example is beautifully centered, with bright, flawless colors and perfect registration. Boldly printed reverse with a faint hint of toning on the lower left (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy) The card has a NM-MT appearance but has been downgraded to NM+ due to just a hint more corner wear than allowed by the grading standards for that lofty grade (predominately the lower left). This is a magnificent high-grade example, the finest we have ever seen or offered, of one of the most classic of all nineteenth-century baseball cards. This card is a gem and would be a significant highlight in even the most advanced collection. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000+.
