Postwar Baseball - 1950s Cards
1957 Topps baseball uncut sheet (10 x 7 inches) with eight different second-series cards, including the key card to the set: #95 Mickey Mantle. This is a final production sheet with fully printed backs. The cards appearing on this sheet are #92, 95 Mantle, 108, 124, 129, 160, 162, and 163. This eight-card sheet is technically defined as a partial sheet, as 1957 Topps were printed in 132-card production sheets. This partial sheet originates from the very well-known find of 1957 Topps sheets discovered years ago, most of which were heavily damaged. Some full sheets and many partial sheets in various conditions were salvageable. This panel was almost certainly cut from a heavily damaged sheet. The sheet possesses tremendous visual appeal, but a few minor faults, including light rippling and several surface wrinkles, are visible upon closer inspection. The key card #95 Mickey Mantle has a few surface creases visible in the background surrounding Mantle’s image. Despite these technical imperfections, this sheet has an overall outstanding Excellent appearance and would present extremely well as a framed companion piece. This is a rare 1957 Topps uncut panel from a historic sheet find, highlighted by the key Hall of Famer in the set. It is also a rarely offered, relatively affordable, yet still ideal for display, alternative to a problem-free full sheet. The panel is matted (double-sided to allow viewing of the reverse) to total dimensions of 12 x 9 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
