16% Nr/Mt (including a couple better), 72% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 12% Vg to Vg-Ex (including five with a slight trim). This is a very attractive medium- to high-grade complete set (including #66 Williams) plus one variation of one of the most overlooked (and compared to many other sets, most reasonably valued) classic bubble-gum card issues from the golden age of the 1950s. The #66 Ted Williams is the key card to the 1954 Bowman set and one of the legendary key cards among all postwar gum cards. The #66 Piersall and two variations of #163 Philley (163a and 163b) are also included. Three cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Rizzuto (Ex), 6 Fox (Ex), 15 Ashburn (80/20 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 45 Kiner (Vg-Ex), 50 Kell (30/70 L/R and T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 58 Reese (Nr/Mt), 62 Slaughter (Vg-Ex+), 64 Mathews (Ex), 65 Mantle (VG 3), 66a Williams (VG-EX 4), 66b Piersall (Ex), 84 Doby (85/15 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt), 89 Mays (EX-MT 6), 90 Campanella (slight trim, otherwise Vg+), 95 Roberts (Ex-Mt), 101 Larsen RC (Ex+), 110 Schoendienst (Ex+), 132 Feller (85/15 T/B, slight trim, otherwise Nr/Mt), 138 Hodges (Ex+), 145 Martin (Ex), 161 Berra (slight trim, otherwise Ex-Mt), 170 Snider (Ex+), 177 Ford (Ex-Mt), and 196 Lemon (15/85 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt). This is a crisp, clean, and extremely attractive complete set of this classic and often overlooked Bowman issue. Total: 226 cards (complete set of 225 plus one variation). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
