Spalding "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" baseball accompanied by its rare and fragile original box featuring Ruth's portrait. During the early 1930s, this was the ball of choice for most of America's youth and if there were any hesitation by consumers as to what ball was best, Ruth's photo on the box usually served to clinch the deal. The ball displays a few tiny abrasions and only light surface wear. All of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold and legible. In Excellent condition overall. The box is actually the rarer and more significant of the two related items, and is perfect for display with the ball. A number of moderate tears are visible throughout, most of which have been repaired on the interior with clear tape. One of the interior side flaps is no longer present. Although technically in Good condition, the box's overall appearance is better than most of the other examples we have seen and it displays exceptionally well. Total: 2 items (ball and box). Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
