Graded EX 5 by PSA. Exceptional high-grade example of Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Famer Eddie Collins from the scarce E102 caramel-card set. The manufacturer of E102 is unknown. The fronts are identical in design to their E101 counterparts and can most easily be distinguished by the attractive black-printed checklist of the 25-card complete set on the reverse of each card. Collins is one of ten Hall of Famers in the set. Bright, crisp, and clean, with brilliant colors, outstanding centering, and even wear to the corners (a bit more in the upper right). Clean and boldly printed reverse. Only two examples of Collins grade higher. This very strong sample from the E102 series of Eddie Collins would make an outstanding addition to any Hall of Fame, "E" card, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
