Original linen-backed one-sheet movie poster issued for the Guaranteed Pictures Company 1940s rerelease of Rawhide, starring Smith Bellew and the legendary "Iron Horse," Lou Gehrig, in his one and only feature-film role. In this Western, Gehrig, who plays himself, quits baseball to go live on his sister's ranch in Montana. Of course, his sister is immediately put in jeopardy by an association running a "protection" racket against the local ranchers, which forces Gehrig and a singer/gunslinger/lawyer, played by Smith Bellew, to set things right. The poster (27 x 41 inches), which is linen-backed, displays repairs to small tears along the fold lines, a tiny chip in the lower left corner, and light staining along the top and bottom borders. In apparent Excellent condition overall. Framed to total dimensions of 30.5 x 44.5 inches.
