Presented is a tremendous example of 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's #311 Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. This legendary card has always been one of the great classics of card collecting. Do not be fooled by the modest assigned grade! Although the offered example grades POOR 10 by SGC (submitted by REA), it presents extremely well, with bold colors, a crisp image, and even wear to the corners. The blue background shows light surface wear and there are a few faint surface wrinkles visible upon close inspection. The centering is superb, with an ever-so-slight characteristic tilt to the image, which is exceptional for this card as it is so often found severely off-center side to side. The paper loss on the reverse is solely responsible for the modest assigned grade. In our estimation, this card has to be among the best-looking "low grade" 1952 Mantles in existence! The most iconic cards such as the 1952 Topps #311 Mantle always have tremendous interest to collectors in all grades. In fact, while lower-grade examples are naturally more affordable, it is precisely for this reason that lower-grade examples of important cards often have even more collectors interested in them! This card will undoubtedly be of enormous appeal to collectors looking to acquire an exceptionally attractive, yet comparatively affordable, example of the most popular and desirable postwar card ever produced. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000++.
