Program from the heavyweight championship boxing match between champion James J. Braddock and the legendary "Brown Bomber," Joe Louis, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois, on June 22, 1937. The fight marked Louis' first championship bout and he began his lengthy eleven-year title reign that night by knocking out Braddock in the eighth round. Braddock, who was known as "The Cinderella Man," for his improbable comeback that resulted in his stunning upset of heavyweight champion Max Baer in 1935, only fought once more before retiring in 1938. The twenty-four page program (8.5 x 11 inches) is not scored and displays moderate handling wear. In Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
