Rare Chicago Cubs pennant (the first we have ever seen) most likely dating from the 1940s. The graphics feature a bear cub in a batting stance within the design of the Cub's team name. The lettering to the right of the image reads "Chicago Cubs" and "Wrigley Field." Illustrations of a generic batter and fielder, as well as a crossed bats-and-ball motif complete the attractive design. The reddish-brown felt pennant (31.5 inches) is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall, with no tassels, tack holes at each corner, and moderate crazing to the painted images and text. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
