Original photo of Hall of Fame shortstop Rabbit Maranville as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, taken by noted baseball photographer Paul Thompson. Maranville is pictured striking a fielding pose prior to a game. Paul Thompson's proprietary stamp appears on the reverse, as does the handwritten notation "Maranville Pittsburg Nat." Maranville played with Pittsburgh from 1921 to 1924; however, the uniform style shown here (especially with regard to the socks) was only worn by the club during the 1921 and 1922 seasons. The photo (6.5 x 8.5 inches) displays a small chip in the lower right corner and a small crease in the lower left corner. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
