1939 World's Fair Laurel Card, issued by the Academy of Sport, beautifully signed in black ink by Jimmie Foxx. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded NM-MT 8. These cards were presented to each student who attended the daily sports clinics sponsored by the Academy of Sport at the 1939 World's Fair. The clinics featured many famous sports personalities of the day, who volunteered their time to instruct youngsters on the finer points of the game, and routinely signed these souvenir cards for attendees. The card (4.25 x 2.75 inches), which was issued to "Guy Anselmo of Brooklyn, N.Y.," is toned and displays a tiny semicircular impression along the top border; otherwise it is in Near Mint condition overall. It should be noted that this card, along with many of the other 1939 World's Fair Laurel Cards appearing in this auction, has been consigned by a family member of the original recipient. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
