Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame Tris Speaker from the rare 1912 Boston American Postcard series. Issued by the Boston American , one of Boston's newspapers, to commemorate members of the World Championship Red Sox team, the complete set features six postcards, and Speaker is the key card as the only Hall of Famer. The postcard depicts Speaker in a sepia-toned bat-at-ready pose set against a cream background. Speaker is identified as "Star Outfielder and Champion Batter Of The Red Sox" underneath. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC (there is a slightly irregular cut along the bottom edge, which may or may not be evidence of trimming, but appears to be the sole reason for this designation). The card presents as Very Good, with light wear at the corners, a small crease in the upper right, and a flawless image. The postcard reverse is clean and unused. This is a very attractive example of this distinctive, desirable, and beautifully produced postcard celebrating Hall of Famer Tris Speaker and the World Champion Boston Red Sox. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $540
