1934 The Three Stooges Woman Haters One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster - First Short For Columbia!

Extremely rare, possibly unique, one-sheet movie poster issued for the 1934 Columbia Pictures two-reel musical comedy Woman Haters , which was the first Columbia short starring the Three Stooges. This is, to the best or our knowledge, the only surviving example of this one-sheet poster and we have never seen any other paper from the film. Few comedy teams have enjoyed such enduring popularity, or have had so profound an influence on American culture, as the Three Stooges. The fact that this poster is from their first of 190 shorts produced by Columbia makes it, arguably, one of the most historically significant movie posters in the hobby. At the very least it is among the most important Three Stooges movie posters in existence and one that would be the highlight of even the most advanced collection.
Woman Haters was atypical of future Three Stooges shorts in that it was produced as a musical comedy, with all of the dialogue in rhyme set to a jazz score. It was also the only film in which the Stooges did not go by their real names; Moe's character is named "Tom," Larry's is named "Jim," and Curly's is named "Jackie." In the film, the Stooges are traveling salesmen who join the Woman Haters Club, promising to never again get romantically involved with a woman. Of course, immediately after taking their oaths, Larry falls in love with a woman, played by Marjorie White, leading to typical Three Stooges high jinks aboard a train.
The poster (27.5 x 41 inches) is linen-backed and has had professional restoration to two tack holes and a few minor tears along the fold lines and border areas.
