Graded MINT 9 by PSA (submitted by REA). Extremely scarce Babe Ruth insert card featuring a piece of an authentic game-used bat issued as part of the 1999 Upper Deck "Piece of History" 500 Home Run Club parallel set. Only fifty cards were produced, making this one of the most desirable Ruth inserts of the era. The offered card is almost identical to the base "Piece of History" Ruth card (350 of which were produced), but it features a different photo and bears a 500 HR Club notation. It is significantly rarer, having only been available in Upper Deck Series 2 packs, and carries an ungraded book value of $4,000 in the 2011 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards (an ungraded example transacted in July 2014 for $3,300 on eBay). The card is worthy of its MINT designation in every way, with flawless edges and four razor-sharp corners. Only a single example has ever graded GEM MINT. This is a tremendously rare, significant, and desirable Babe Ruth insert card which would be at home in any world-class Babe Ruth or insert-card collection. SOLD FOR $3,000
