If anyone ever wondered how Hall of Fame first baseman George Kelly got the nickname "High Pockets," one look at this photo would provide all the information needed to answer that question. The wonderful image pictures Kelly playfully towering over his teammates, Hack Wilson and Dan Taylor, both of whom stand comfortably under Kelly's outstretched arms. Ideally, each player has flawlessly signed the photo in purple ink atop his respective image, with all of the signatures grading "10." The signature of Hall of Fame outfielder Hack Wilson is particularly very scarce, due to his death at the age of forty-eight in 1948. Kelly only played with the Cubs for a half season in 1930, which conclusively dates the year the image was taken. The photo (10 x 8 inches) has a diagonal crease in the upper left corner, as well as a few additional light creases, but displays beautifully. In Very Good condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,422
