Graded EX 60 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Outstanding W600 Sporting Life series cabinet-card featuring Hall of Fame third baseman Jimmy Collins of the Boston Americans. This is a stunning example of Jimmy Collins' true rookie card. Two variations of Collins (both in uniform) were issued in W600: one with a Boston team designation (1902) and one with a Philadelphia team designation (1908). The offered example is the earlier "Boston" variation. Collins was the greatest third baseman of his era. He led his league's third basemen in putouts five times, assists four times, double plays twice, and still stands second all-time in career putouts at third base. Collins was player-manager of the Red Sox in the American League's first six seasons, leading Boston to a victory over Pittsburgh in the inaugural World Series in 1903. This is an extremely bright and crisp card, both front and back, with just the slightest hint of wear to the corners. No creases. The reverse is perfectly clean with only light wear showing along the edges (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail and they are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued.
