Post-1900 Baseball Memorabilia
Brooklyn Dodgers money clip produced to commemorate the club's 1953 National League Championship. The decorative design features a representation of a baseball in the center that is engraved "National League Champions," while the engraving along the base reads "1953 Dodgers." The letters "M" and "G" are positioned on either side of the ball. This is the first example of these money clips we have ever seen. As such, we are not sure exactly by whom, or to whom, they were issued. While it is obviously a team-issued keepsake, we must note that no player on the 1953 roster had the initials "MG." If it were team issued, then it must have been presented to a front office or stadium employee. In either case, it is an extremely rare and attractive souvenir from the club's 1953 pennant-winning season. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $533
