Rare ticket stub from Game 2 of the 1909 World Series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers, held at the newly built Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. The Tigers' "Wild Bill" Donovan bested Pirates ace Howie Camnitz by a score of 7-2 in Game 2, but the Pirates eventually won the Series in seven games. The 1909 World Series marked the only time the two greatest players of the dead-ball era, Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner, squared off against each other on the diamond, thereby adding to the historical significance of this extremely early World Series ticket stub. The ticket (3 x 4.5 inches), which has a few light creases, displays a small area of surface paper loss and a vintage black-ink notation on the reverse. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,133
