Extremely rare, unusual, and impressive Cubs pennant, dating from the teens. This is the ONLY example of this extraordinary oversized Cubs pennant we have ever handled. The red-felt pennant features an applied full-color image of a bear cub holding a bat surrounded by a circle of baseballs. The team name, "Cubs," is lettered in white to the right. The colors are extremely vibrant, especially given the age of the pennant, with only light crazing to the painted letters. Back in the early part of the 1910s, when this pennant was issued, the Cubs were a force to be reckoned with, having won 90 or more games for the ninth consecutive year in 1912. The pennant is exceptionally attractive and of very high quality. The fancy tassels on the left edge are fully intact. There is a small bite at the pennant's tip and tack holes are evident along the white, left border; otherwise the pennant remains in spectacular Excellent condition. Ideal for display as intended! Height: 13.5 inches. Length: 34 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,963
