Six-page fold-over contract, dated March 5, 1981, between Wade Boggs and the Pawtucket Red Sox, signed in blue ink ("10") by "Wade A. Boggs" and Edward Kenney (vice president of player development for Pawtucket). The one-year agreement calls for Boggs to receive a salary of $2,400 per month for the 1981 season. This was Bogg's final minor-league contract. He played two seasons with Pawtucket, batting .306 in 1980 and .335 in 1981. Those robust batting numbers were just the start for Boggs, as he posted averages of .300 or better in his first ten major league seasons with the Red Sox. He also collected five batting titles during that span as well. One of the game's greatest modern-day hitters, Boggs retired in 1999 with 3,010 hits and a .328 lifetime average, which ranks thirty-fifth all time. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2005. The contract (8.5 x 10 inches) displays two horizontal folds and is in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $593
