This extremely rare sample pin from the 1910 Hermes Ice Cream advertising pin series features a portrait of Pirates outfielder Tommy Leach. All Hermes Ice Cream pins are extremely rare. Their design is similar to that of the Morton's Bread and Buster Brown pin sets featuring Detroit Tiger players, but Hermes Ice Cream pins feature Pittsburgh Pirate players and are far more elusive than the Detroit pins. In fact, probably no more than a few dozen Hermes pins in total are known to exist. The pin displays three small stains to the right of Leach's portrait image, as well as a few other tiny areas of spotting. The original back paper is complete and intact on the reverse. Very Good condition overall. Diameter: 1.25 inches.
