Complete set of all four lobby cards from the Three Stooges 1949 short Vagabond Loafers . (The studios normally issued only four lobby cards for shorts and lower-budget films instead of the standard eight.) This was the twenty-first Three Stooges film to feature Shemp Howard, who joined the group after his brother Curly suffered a stroke in 1946. All Three Stooges lobby cards are rare, even those dating from the later years (1947 to 1956). Interestingly, we have seen fewer Stooges lobby cards at auction from that later period than we have from the 1934-1946 span. Other than Robert Edward Auctions' unprecedented current offering of Three Stooges movie posters (this is the second of three installments), we have never seen any other Three Stooges complete lobby-card sets offered at auction, and it is likely that few other complete sets exist outside of our consignor's world-class collection. All of the lobby cards (14 x 11 inches) display moderate handling wear, including a few light creases. The title card and one other scene card (man with bucket on head) display tack holes in the corners. Another scene card (Larry being sprayed by water) has had restoration in the form of cleaning and repair to a few border tears and/or tack holes. In Very Good condition overall.
