Collection of diverse baseball memorabilia (five items), each signed by Ted Williams. This group originates from an old-time collector, who obtained all of the signatures in person at various signing shows in the 1970s and 1980s. 1) The highlight of the group is a 1989 limited edition "Ted Williams" commemorative bat issued by the Cooperstown Bat Company. Williams has signed the bat in blue Sharpie (grading "10") on the sweet spot of the barrel. The 34-inch bat is numbered "350" on the knob and is one of only 1,000 such bats signed by Williams. The bat is in Near Mint condition and is accompanied by its original Cooperstown Bat Company COA. The remainder of the collection is comprised of the following: 2-4) Three official American League (Brown) balls, each signed in blue ink across the sweet spot. Two of the signatures grade "10," while the other grades "9." One ball is in Near Mint condition, while the other two display light-to-moderate toning and are otherwise in Near Mint condition. 5) 1939 Baseball Centennial first-day cover, signed on the front in blue ink (grading "10"). The envelope, which is postmarked June 12, 1939, Cooperstown, and bears four 1939 Baseball Centennial stamps, has a small stain in the lower right corner and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Total: 5 signed items. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,896.00
