Large-format 1911 World Series program issued at New York. This is one of the scarcest World Series programs from the era and one that has always been highly prized by collectors. Giants owner John T. Brush is pictured on the cover. The interior pages include team photos of the New York Giants and Philadelphia Athletics, as well as individual portrait photos of team and league officials. Neatly scored in pencil to record Philadelphia's 3-2 victory in eleven innings in Game 3 (Mathewson and Coombs each went the distance). Philadelphia eventually defeated the Giants in six games to capture the club's second consecutive World Championship. The program (9 x 11 inches) displays light toning to the front cover and both covers are nearly separated from the spine. There is tape residue on the interior front cover, and a small piece of tape at top of the exterior spine. A small abrasion affects the front cover, while the back cover displays a tiny tear at the base (paper loss). In Good condition overall. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,067
