Graded NM 84 by SGC. Condition-sensitive #1 card in high grade featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Whitey Ford, from the popular 1951 Bowman issue. Besides being the number-one card in the set, this card also represents Ford's rookie card. This is an outstanding example with four sharp corners, perfect registration, brilliant colors, and near-perfect centering. The reverse is virtually flawless with no gum or wax stains, as are often found on 1951 Bowmans. Being the number-one card in the set, it is a true condition rarity. This card naturally gravitated to the top of the stack, usually exposing it to extra wear and handling, and thus making high-grade examples far more difficult to find than most other 1951 Bowmans and other Ford cards. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of Ford's most sought-after card. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,700. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,963
