This collection of four early football helmets showcases the evolution of the football helmet from the 1920s through the 1950s, and is all the more notable for the outstanding condition of each helmet. 1) 1920s Wilson-Western Dog-Ear Style Helmet. This two-toned leather football helmet represents the classic style used in the 1920s. The Wilson-Western logo and the model number "82T" are stamped on the back. The helmet displays light wear, with a partial chin strap, and all of the inner wool lining is retained. Ex-Mt. 2) 1930s Rawlings Wing-Front Style Helmet. Outstanding example of the style made popular by the legendary Michigan football program. Two-toned design with sturdy construction. Complete with original chin strap. The "Rawlings" name and the number "18" are stamped on the back. The name of a former owner is written on the interior. Moderate-to-heavy wear is evident throughout, but with no tears to the interior lining. Vg-Ex. 3) 1940s Hutch Black-Leather Helmet. This was the company's top-of-the-line model at the time. The company name and model number ("Hutch H-22") are stamped on the interior. Complete with its original chin strap. Light wear throughout. Ex-Mt. 4) Nokona Two-Tone Leather Helmet. This is a rare style for the 1950s, as the combination of the blue and black leather is seldom seen. Complete with its original chin strap. Factory colors are all original and the interior white-leather lining is nearly pristine. The company logo and model number ("317") are stamped in silver on the back. The helmet displays light wear, but does not appear to have ever been used in play. In remarkable Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt condition. Total: 4 helmets. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
