Limited-edition lithographic print of Mickey Mantle, numbered "981/2000," signed by Mantle in blue Sharpie (grading "10") along the bottom white border. This print, which replicates Mantle's 1953 Topps baseball card, was actually produced from the original 1953 Topps artwork of Mantle's card. The provenance of this piece is noted in the accompanying one-page letter, dated October 23, 1989, on official corporate letterhead, from the Marriott Corporation. In full: "Dear Purchaser: This letter will serve to authenticate that the enclosed numbered, lithographic print of Mickey Mantle and/or Willie Mays has been produced from the original 1953 artwork created by Topps Baseball Cards. The Marriott Corporation purchased the original artwork at auction on August 19, 1989 at a combined price of $209,000. The affixed signature is that of either Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays respectively." The letter is signed by John Havron, Vice President of Food and Beverage Marketing for Marriott Hotels and Resorts. Both the print (8.5 x 11.5) and letter (8 x 10.5 inches) are in apparent Mint condition and have been matted and framed together to total dimensions of 26 x 19 inches. LOA from James Spence/JSA.
