Window-card poster announcing the appearance of Louis Armstrong and his All Star Esquire Combo at the Symphony Ballroom on Saturday, August 19, in Boston, Massachusetts. The colorful window card pictures Armstrong playing the trombone, surrounded by smaller images of his famed ensemble: Earl Hines, Barney Bigard, Thelma Middleton, Jack Teagarden, Arvel Shaw, and Cozy Cole. Although no year is listed, this concert most likely took place in 1950. Armstrong toured with his All-Star ensemble from 1947 (the performers changed over time) through the late 1950s. The only year in which August 19th fell on a Saturday during that time period is 1950. The window card (14 x 22 inches) displays a number of minor flaws commensurate with its age and former use, including some modest creases, minor surface wear, and a few small, light stains; however, none of those condition anomalies detract from its outstanding Excellent overall appearance. Framed to total dimensions of 17 x 25.5 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,370
