2011 Topps prize card, from its special Allen & Ginter's World Famous Cut Signatures insert collection, featuring the cut signature of Abraham Lincoln, sixteenth President of the United States. The cut (approximately 3 x .5 inches), which is encased within the card, features a rare full-name Lincoln signature that has been beautifully penned in black ink, grading "9." The card is numbered "AGCS-6" on the reverse, where it is also noted that this Lincoln cut is a "1/1" issue. Topps included twenty randomly inserted Allen & Ginter's World Famous Cut Signature cards in its packs of 2011 cards, all of which featured the signatures of important political or historical figures. Our consignor personally discovered this card inside a rack pack that he purchased at Wal-Mart! While we do not yet have a complete checklist of the twenty individuals comprising Topps' 2011 World Famous Cut Signature cards, we can only imagine that this Lincoln card was one of the most desirable (if not the most desirable) of the special prize cards issued that year. These special Topps cut-signature prize cards, because of their "1/1" limitation numbers, and the fact that they are actually cards, have always been highly prized by collectors, over and above the intrinsic value of the signatures themselves. Near Mint to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $8,295
