Original team cabinet photo capturing the eleven members the National Champion Princeton Tigers football team. Included in the formal studio photograph are all five members named to the 1893 All-American team: quarterback Phil King, tackle Langdon Lea, halfback Franklin Morse, end Thomas Trenchard, and guard Art Wheeler. King (who was a three-time consensus All-American), Lea, and Wheeler were also later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Princeton fashioned a perfect 11-0 record in 1893, clinching its undefeated season with a 6-0 victory over Yale in the final game of the season. The win also ended Yale's thirty-seven-game win streak. Following that victory, the team posed for this elegant photo, with Tommy Trenchard holding a ball that is lettered "Champions 1893." The photo (8 x 5.25 inches), which offers perfect clarity, is in Near Mint condition. The mount (10 x 8 inches) displays light wear and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. This is an exceptional Princeton football team photo commemorating the club's undefeated National Championship season of 1893. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,015
