Pair of highly attractive New York Yankees jewelry items that we believe were presented to players at an Old Timers' Day, each measuring 1.5 inches in diameter. Both are identical in design and feature the Yankees' famous "top hat" logo, with the top hat decorated in red/white/blue enamel. One of the 45, crafted in 10K gold, has a pin-back reverse and was produced by Balfour, as noted by the engraved notation on the back, "LGB1/510K." The other example, while identical at a glance, is technically not a pin: It has no pin-back attachment on the reverse, and it is also different in that it bears no manufacturer's stamping. We have been told that these items were gifts to former Yankees players at various Old Timers' Day events, and that one of these actually was presented to Bob Shawkey. This is very plausible and likely, but as we have no formal documentation we can only present this information as unconfirmed. Regardless, they remain two exceptionally decorative jewelry items relating to the most successful franchise in baseball history. The example without the pin-back has a few light scratches and surface blemishes on the reverse; otherwise both are in Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $237
