Collection of five vintage New York Yankees pennants, including several very rare examples, spanning three of the most successful decades in club history. 1) The highlight of the group is an exceedingly rare and classic circa 1940s Joe DiMaggio pennant that, strangely enough, pictures the famed "Yankee Clipper" as a left-handed batter. DiMaggio's name is written in large white letters to the right of his image. "N. Y. Yankees" and "Yankee Clipper" appear, respectively, above and below his likeness. The blue-felt pennant remains in remarkable condition given its age. The material displays little-to-no fading and there is only light-to-moderate crazing to the paint. No tack holes are evident at the tip or ends. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. Length: 28 inches. 2) Very rare circa 1930s blue-felt pennant. This example most likely dates to the club's 1936-1939 dynasty. The blue-felt pennant features a banner reading "New York Yankees/World Champions" and the word "Winner" in large white letters to the left. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall, with light-to-moderate fading to both the material and paint, as well as general wear commensurate with its age. Length: 25.5 inches. 3) Circa 1930s green-felt pennant. The attractive design features a game-in-progress scene to the left, with the words "American League Champs" lettered in white directly below. "N. Y. Yankees" appears in large white letters to the right. The pennant displays only light wear and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. Length: 26.5 inches. 4) 1949 brown-felt pennant celebrating the first of the club's record five consecutive World Championships. The design includes the club's familiar "Top Hat" logo, the year ("1949"), and a depiction of a scroll listing most of the club's roster, including DiMaggio, Berra, and Rizzuto. In Very Good condition overall with moderate wear, including some crazing to the paint, fading to the material, tack holes, and a tiny tear at the tip. 27.5 inches in length. 5) 1950 blue-felt pennant featuring a generic player image and the words "Bronx Bombers" to the left. The team name and the words "American League Champions 1950" appear in large white letters to the left. No tassels (probably as issued; there does not appear to be any evidence of them having been cut or removed). In Excellent condition overall. Length: 27.5 inches. Total: 5 pennants. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,252
