Collection of eleven different unusual early 1900s baseball postcards, each picturing one or more Major League players. Highlighting this group are two cards picturing the legendary "Flying Dutchman," Honus Wagner. 1) The first pictures him in uniform as the completes his follow-through swing during batting practice. Aside from the image, which is crystal clear, there are no other identifiers on the card save for the name "Honus Wagner" written in pencil on the reverse. The card displays light wear and a small area of surface paper loss on the reverse. Vg-Ex. 2) The second Wagner card, which is colorized, captures him posing in street clothes with a group of children in front of their school. The printed caption along the base reads "'Hans' Wagner and his young recruits at Dawson Springs, Ky." The card is blank backed; we're not sure exactly what this card is, or if the back has somehow been separated, but it has the dimensions and look of a postcard. The pencil notation "Ott 5:00" appears on the reverse. The card displays a number of light creases throughout. Vg. Other players represented here include the following: 3) John McGraw (very rare postcard issue printed on brittle stock, McGraw identified in print on the front; corner chip; never mailed); 4) Joe Tinker (Case Motor Cars; seated in car; identified in print on the front; mailed; Vg-Ex); 5) Tommy Leach (1908 Pirates Stadium Issue; Leach identified in print on the front; never mailed; Ex); 6) Danny Moeller (1908 Pirates Stadium Issue; identified in print on the front; mailed; Vg); 7) and Roy Parmalee (1932 Giants schedule set; Vg). 8-10) The three remaining cards feature unidentified players. One of the cards pictures two members of the New York Giants posing together, circa 1915 (never mailed; Ex), another pictures a Chicago White Sox player (in uniform) riding a burro (never mailed; writing on front and back; abrasions on front; Gd-Vg), and the last captures members of the St. Louis Browns posing together in a car (the reverse bears an ink notation that identifies one of the players as Rube Waddell, but we cannot confirm the identification; never mailed; Ex). All of the cards measure approximately 5.5 x 3.5 inches. Total: 11 postcards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,233
