Collection of three 1960 Fleer Casper complete sets (66 cards per set) plus display box. Very scarce and highly popular Fleer gum-card set features Casper "The Friendly Ghost" and, of course, his many friends. This collection of three complete sets was saved by a noncollecting family in Florida for more than forty-five years. The perfect distribution into sets is no doubt the result of some very enthusiastic collecting by a family member back in 1960 but our consignor has no recollection or additional information other than the cards were saved in the original Casper display box (top missing, otherwise Vg) that also accompanies. (Interesting note: The family originally had a remarkable seven complete sets but sold the other four sets at REA in 2009.) Casper is not a set that turns up with any frequency, let alone in groups of sets. This issue is noted for centering problems and miscuts (no borders). The sets grade 85% Ex-Mt or better, 15% Ex (includes a few cards slightly lesser), without reference to the normal number of off-center cards that are to be expected, otherwise with a sharp, pack-fresh appearance. Casper is one of the most colorful and amusing sets ever issued. Though hard to take seriously, it is also one of the rarest sets of the era. Few card sets are greeted with greater amusement by a wider audience than Casper. They are also far rarer than the Three Stooges cards, also issued by Fleer. This is a tremendous find of three (dare we say it?) very friendly high-grade sets. Total: 198 cards (three sets of 66) plus box. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,293
