Fantasy artist Boris Vallejo became the aesthetic successor to Frank Frazetta with his amazing imagery of beautiful women, fantastic creatures and alien dreamscapes. This is a magnificent early original painting by Vallejo titled The Dragon and the George . That it was highlighted in the first book published featuring his paintings in the late 1970s makes it particularly significant. The regal female archer, joined by a knight on a powerful charger and a menacing dragon, contemplates the impending conflict with evil-looking winged denizens of a floating castle.
