Titled Augusta Golf , issued in 1990, serigraph numbered "AP 13/90" (artist's proof), and signed by Neiman in pencil in the lower right (grading "10"). Edition limited to 646 total impressions (550 numbered impressions, 90 artist's proofs, and 6 printer's proofs). This exceptional artwork captures the legendary "Golden Bear," Jack Nicklaus, as he tees off at The Masters, held at Augusta National Golf Club. Nicklaus won The Masters a record six times during his career, so it was only fitting that Neiman chose to feature him in his salute to golf's most prestigious tournament. Although Nicklaus was fifty years old in 1990 and past his prime, he was still able to finish a respectable sixth at The Masters, finishing seven shots behind the leader, Nick Faldo. This is one of Neiman's most impressive golf works, both artistically and with respect to its subject matter. Because of that, it is seldom seen at public auction. This is the first example of this highly prized piece we have ever offered. The serigraph measures 38 x 28.5 inches (image area) and has been handsomely matted and framed to total dimensions of 52 x 43 inches. The piece has been matted by means of tape to the reverse, otherwise in Near Mint condition. Please Note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping costs (depending on where it is sent and its method of shipping) may be substantial. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
