Extraordinary collection of eleven high-grade cards from the 1901 and 1902 Ogden's Guinea Gold sets, highlighted by golf legends Tom Morris and J. H. Taylor, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. In addition to being among the earliest of all golf card issues, the Ogden's Guinea Gold cards are considered by many serious collectors to be among the most difficult of all vintage golf-card issues to collect in high grade. Their black border design make these cards extremely susceptible to damage. This is an extraordinary collection of these important and early golf-card rarities in extremely high grade! 1) 1901 Ogden's Guinea Gold (Unnumbered Cards) - Series of 18 (9 cards): Arnaud Massey (I Base, NM 7, only one graded higher), Tom Morris (I Base, NM-MT 8, Highest Graded!), James Rowe (I Base, NM 7, none graded higher), Vardon v. Braid (Vertical, NM 7, only one graded higher), Vardon v. Braid (2 Golfers, NM 7, only one graded higher), Vardon v. Braid (4 No Spectators, NM 7, one of only two with none graded higher), Vardon v. Braid (5 w/ Spectators Rt. and Back, EX-MT 6, only two graded higher), and two Vardon v. Braid (5 w/ Spectators Right, NM-MT 8 - Highest Graded! and EX-MT 6). 2) 1901 Ogden's Guinea Gold (Numbered Cards): #475 J. H. Taylor (NM-MT 8, Highest Graded!). 3) 1902 Ogden's Limited - Numbered Cards "New Series 1": #B233 Courtice Pounds & George Grossmith, Jr. (NM-MT 8). This is an outstanding collection for this issue, very carefully assembled in uncompromising high grade. All cards have sharp corners and flawless images, and are very well centered. The SMR value for the group is $10,425. From the Jack Zugay Collection. Total: 11 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $7,638
