Outstanding ultra high-grade complete set minus one (104 out of 105 cards in the set, missing only #4 Richard) of 1951-1952 Parkhurst Hockey, one of hockey collecting's most highly-prized card sets, highlighted by key rookie cards of Terry Sawchuk (PSA NM-MT 8) and Gordie Howe (PSA NM-MT 8). The fragile stock and natural soft corners of this issue make high-grade sets of this important issue especially difficult to assemble. All 104 cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (35 cards) or SGC (69 cards). Five cards are graded MINT, two are graded NM-MT+, forty are graded NM-MT, twenty-eight are graded NM+, and twenty-nine are graded NM. This ultra high-grade set (minus 1) has been assembled one card at a time, over a period of many years, by an extremely dedicated collector with an uncompromising commitment to condition and eye-appeal, actively seeking to upgrade every card of this set during the entire span of his collecting. This is a world-class investment-grade set of the most important issue in the entire world of postwar hockey-card collecting. The PSA grades are as follows: Four MINT 9: #18, 25, 34, and 35. Eleven NM-MT 8: #2, 13, 14 Geoffrion (RC), 23, 28, 39, 55 Kelly (RC), 61 Sawchuk (RC), 66 Howe (RC), 92, and 95. Twenty NM 7: #1 Lach, 7 Johnson (RC), 10 Harvey, 15 McNeil (RC), 27, 41, 47 Lumley (RC), 52 Winning Goal, 57, 64 Abel, 70 Watson (RC), 76 Rollins (RC), 86 Kennedy (RC), 87, 90, 93, 96 Laprade (RC), 98, 100, and 103. The SGC grades are as follows: One MINT 96: #24. Two NM/MT+ 92: #19 Henry (RC) and 30. Twenty-nine NM/MT 88: #6, 9, 12, 21, 29 Schmidt, 37 Gadsby (RC), 38, 43, 44, 46, 48 Bentley (RC), 50, 54, 56 Lindsay (RC), 60, 63 Delvecchio (RC), 65, 68 Pronovost (RC), 71, 72 Meeker (RC), 74, 75 Broda, 77, 81 Bentley, 83, 89, 94 Stanley, 101, and 105 Conacher (RC). Twenty-eight NM+ 86: #3 Bouchard (RC), 8, 11 Mosdell (RC), 16, 17, 20, 22, 26 Quackenbush (RC), 31, 33, 36, 42, 45, 49 Mosienko (RC), 51, 59, 67, 69, 73, 78, 80 Flaman (RC), 84, 85, 88, 91, 97, 99, and 104 Rayner (RC). Nine NM 84: #5 Olmstead, 32, 40, 53 Stewart, 58, 62, 79, 82, and 102. This is a spectacularly attractive ultra high-grade set (missing just one card) of 1951-1952 Parkurst, by far the finest set we have ever seen or offered, and literally one of the finest sets ever assembled of this classic hockey issue. The equivalent SMR value for the individual cards is $35,605. Total: 104 cards (35 PSA and 69 SGC). Reserve $10,000. Estimate $20,000++. SOLD FOR $44,063
