Extraordinary Near Mint example of the historic program issued for Super Bowl I between the Green Bay Packers, champions of the NFL, and the Kansas City Chiefs, champions of the AFL, held on January 15, 1967, at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Although Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt is credited with naming the championship game the "Super Bowl" at the time, it did not become the game's official title until 1969. That fact is evident by the title of the program: "World Championship Game/AFL vs. NFL." This first "World Championship Game" marked the official beginning of the historic merger between the NFL and AFL, which was officially completed in 1970. Green Bay upheld the honor of the older, more-established NFL by defeating Kansas City 35-10, thereby giving legendary coach Vince Lombardi the first of his two consecutive Super Bowl victories. Today, the Super Bowl trophy is named The Lombardi Trophy in his honor. In Near Mint condition. This is the finest example of this program we have ever offered and one that would be a welcome addition to any advanced football collection. Reserve $100. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $823
