Rare Philadelphia Athletics program issued for the 1914 World Series against the Boston Braves. The scarcity of this program and its outstanding cover graphics (picturing four white elephants) both contribute to its stature as one of the most desirable programs of the era. The eighteen-page program features articles on both the A's and the Braves, along with individual photos of twenty-five members of the Athletics, including manager Connie Mack, Eddie Plank, Chief Bender, Eddie Collins, Frank Baker, and Eddie Plank. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 1 of the Series, which ended in a 7-1 defeat for Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the A's were unable to bounce back from that loss and were unceremoniously swept by the legendary "Miracle Braves" in four straight games. The covers are partially separated along the spine and the program (8 x 11 inches) displays a few tiny edge tears and creases. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
