The colorful cover of the 1914 World Series program issued at Boston features a portrait of Boston Braves manager George Stallings, identified below as "The Miracle Man." Stallings' title was well deserved as his "Miracle Braves" went from last place to first place between July 18th and August 25th, en route to winning the pennant by ten and a half games. They then went on to sweep the heavily favored Philadelphia A's in the World Series (4-0). The interior pages feature many photos, including team pictures of both squads. Neatly scored in pencil for Game 4 to record a 3-1 Braves victory. The sixteen-page program was once mounted in an album and displays just a hint of surface paper loss and adhesive residue on the back cover as a result of its subsequent removal (this is extremely minor and mentioned only for the sake of accuracy). The back cover also displays a repaired tear that affects one of the interior pages. A few minor stains affect the front cover as well. The spine shows little wear and a couple tiny nicks of little or no consequence. Technically mid-grade (as is almost always the case with such early World series programs) but extremely attractive, perfectly flat, and ideal for display. In Good condition. Reserve $200.
