Photo of Cy Young, produced by famed Chicago photographer George Burke, magnificently signed by Young in blue fountain pen (grading "10") across his image. It should be noted that this photo was not taken by Burke, as his career as a baseball photographer did not begin until 1929, long after Young had retired. Instead, the photo was produced by him, either from the original photo or its negative (as Burke did when producing photos of many early players). That fact is made clear by the wording of Burke's proprietary stamp on the reverse "Reproduced by Geo. Burke - 847 Belmont Ave. - Chicago, Ill." Both Cy Young's name and a catalog number (standard for Burke photos) also appear on the reverse. The photo (4 x 6 inches) displays a few tiny creases (one of which touches upon the "C" in "Cy") and is in Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800.
