This is the actual original artwork to card #9 of Vern Stephens of the Boston Red Sox from the 1952 Bowman series. The Bowman sets from the early 1950s are highly regarded in part for their use of original paintings. This is a fine example of an original Bowman artwork used in the production of this classic baseball series. Outstanding horizontal image! Normal glue marks from the production process are on the reverse. A very tiny production-related corner chip in the lower right corner is virtually imperceptible and is mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy. Clean and crisp with bright colors. The artwork measures 6-1/4 x 4-1/8 inches and is in overall Excellent condition. Accompanied by an example of the issued card. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,231
