Graded EX 5 by PSA. Offered is the ideal classic Babe Ruth bubble-gum card, featuring the Babe in his classic follow-through batting pose. Goudey must have also realized this was the most classic pose as, of all the cards in the set, this is the card they chose to double print when replacing the missing card #106 during production. This continues to be one of Ruth's most popular and recognizable baseball cards. Because of being double-printed by Goudey (there were exactly twice as many Ruth #144s printed as any other card in the same series), this card also represents the best value among the four Babe Ruth cards in the 1933 Goudey set. The card is bright and clean, with even wear to all four corners (corners are slightly rounded, a little more in the lower left), no creases, and vibrant colors. We grade this card more conservatively than PSA at approximately Vg-Ex, due to the approximately 80/20 left-to-right centering, a little too much corner wear, a small surface indentation above Ruth's right shoulder, and a light stain on the left border. The back is clean with bold green print. This is one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards from the popular 1933 Goudey Gum series. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,231
