Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Only example graded at this level by PSA, with just one card (an EX-MT 6 example) graded higher. Presented is an extremely striking example of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner in a throwing pose from the very popular E90-1 American Caramel series. This series is the premier candy-card set of the 1910-era. This set is closely related to several other candy sets from the era which share the same format and, in many cases, the same player image. The E90-1 American Caramel set has two different poses of Honus Wagner (batting and throwing). Based on the PSA population report (which is very consistent with our own experience) it appears that the throwing pose is much rarer than the batting pose (PSA has graded only eight examples of the throwing pose but twenty-three batting poses). Bright and clean, both front and back, with vibrant colors, even wear to the corners, and no creases. The card has some ruffling and a very light hint of caramel stain along the top border. This card is in extraordinary condition, especially for a caramel card, which because they were issued with candy, one card per package, tend to survive in lesser condition than their more common tobacco-card counterparts. This is a very attractive and, for this issue, high-grade example of the rarer throwing pose of the legendary Honus Wagner from the premier "E" card issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $9,400
