Original press photo, culled from The Chicago Sun Times archives, picturing Lou Gehrig and Bobby Lowe posing together in 1932. This is an extraordinary image of two of the greatest players of their respective eras and the attached paper news caption on the reverse, dated 6/8/32, explains the occasion of the photo: "Modern and ancient records theirs - Lou Gehrig, hard hitting first baseman of the New York Yankees recently made a modern baseball record by hitting four consecutive home runs in one game, to equal a mark set by Bobby Lowe back in 1894. When the Yanks came to Detroit Gehrig, (left) and Lowe posed for the above picture, Lowe putting on his old Boston National uniform for the occasion." Additional reverse markings consist of an "Associated Press" credit stamp, a later-date newspaper clipping bearing a date stamp of "Dec 11, 1951," and period editorial notations. The photo (7 x 9 inches) has a few very minor flaws common to nearly all working press photos, including a crease in the lower right corner and light rippling. In Very Good condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
