Prewar Baseball - 1930s and 1940s Cards
Both wrapper variations from the classic 1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up baseball card issue. Each of these wrappers (one for the low-number series, one for the high numbers) was used to package the classic R318 Batter-Up cards, one of the most popular and unique of all baseball cards of the early 1930s. Different wrappers were used for the low numbers (common style with an image of a catcher set against a red and green background, Vg-Ex) and high numbers (rare 1c "Batter" type, Vg-Ex/Ex) series. The colorful wrappers are both very attractive, of course, as they were designed specifically to attract attention to the company's product. The R318 Batter-Up low-number wrapper is rare (especially in nice shape); the high-number wrapper is practically impossible to find! These wrappers are rarely seen and are highly prized by both prewar baseball-wrapper and -card collectors. Total 2 wrappers. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,410
