Spalding "Official Cork Center League" ball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Ruth's signature, penned in black fountain pen across the sweet spot, is by far the stronger of the two signatures and grades "7." The Gehrig signature, also scripted in black fountain pen, is located on the north panel and is faded almost beyond the point of visibility. Only the first name, "Lou," remains discernible to the naked eye and the signature, as a whole, grades "1." While technically a Ruth/Gehrig ball, in practicality it is equivalent in display value to a Ruth single, and in that regard it stands as an attractive mid-grade example. The ball is moderately toned with a minor surface wear, but nearly all of the manufacturer's stampings remain legible. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500.
