Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Only example graded at this level, with just one graded higher. Perhaps the most distinctive and rarest of all Babe Ruth Exhibit cards, this card features Babe Ruth dressed in formal attire. This card dates from 1931-1932, and was part of a 32-card series of movie stars. Ruth appeared as himself in a series of short films in 1932, thus earning himself a place in this set alongside well-known movie stars. The Exhibit Supply Company seems to have enjoyed including Ruth in any series that they could justify, and Ruth's appearance in films gave another opportunity here. Ruth"™s facsimile signature appears in white along the bottom of the photo. The card is perfectly clean both front and back. The postcard reverse is identical in style to the backs of some early 1930s Exhibit sets, with a small coupon printed in the lower left corner, which was intended to be cut. This Ruth card is from a particularly rare Exhibit Supply Company set. There are probably fewer than ten known examples of this great rarity. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
